ALL children will be able to experience the joy and freedom of riding a bike
You Can Ride 2 works in our community to teach youth with cognitive disabilities how to ride a two-wheeled bike. The program has been operating in our community since 2012.
They allow families to “borrow a bike” thus enabling children who previously were unable to ride a bike to participate in cycling with their friends and family in their community.
Through volunteer efforts between local bicycle mechanics, and local rehab medical professionals including our sponsor, Active Physio Works, they modify equipment so that all children will be able to experience the joy of riding a bike. From these programs, they share ideas and feedback on various styles of bikes to promote adaptive cycling across the country. At their “learn to ride” and “train the trainer” courses they help children and their family members master the skills required to ride a two-wheeled bicycle.
